Sie nutzen die bei der Atomspaltung freigesetzte Energie, um enorme W\u00e4rmemengen zu erzeugen, die anschlie\u00dfend in Strom umgewandelt werden. Trotz Bedenken hinsichtlich Sicherheit und Abfallentsorgung produzieren Kernkraftwerke Energie mit minimalen Treibhausgasemissionen und k\u00f6nnen \u00fcber lange Zeitr\u00e4ume nahezu ununterbrochen betrieben werden.<\/p>\n<h2>Grundprinzipien der Kernenergie<\/h2>\n<p>Der Betrieb eines Kernkraftwerks basiert auf einem nat\u00fcrlichen Prozess namens Kernspaltung. Bei der Kernspaltung wird ein schweres Atom, meist Uran-235 oder Plutonium-239, von einem Neutron getroffen und in kleinere Atome gespalten. Dieser Prozess setzt enorme Energiemengen in Form von W\u00e4rme sowie zus\u00e4tzliche Neutronen frei, die weitere Kernspaltungen ausl\u00f6sen und so eine sich selbst erhaltende Kettenreaktion ausl\u00f6sen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<h3>Die Kettenreaktion<\/h3>\n<p>F\u00fcr den sicheren Betrieb eines Kernkraftwerks muss die Kettenreaktion sorgf\u00e4ltig kontrolliert werden. Dies wird erreicht durch:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Steuerst\u00e4be<\/strong>: Hergestellt aus neutronenabsorbierenden Materialien wie Bor oder Cadmium<\/li>\n<li><strong>Verz\u00f6gerer<\/strong>: Materialien wie Wasser, schweres Wasser oder Graphit, die Neutronen verlangsamen<\/li>\n<li><strong>K\u00fchlsysteme<\/strong>: Um die entstehende W\u00e4rme abzuleiten und eine \u00dcberhitzung des Kerns zu verhindern<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Die Hauptteile eines Kernkraftwerks<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Der Reaktor<\/h3>\n<p>Das Herzst\u00fcck jedes Kernkraftwerks ist der Kernreaktor. In diesem Teil findet die Kernspaltung statt. Er besteht aus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reaktorkern<\/strong>: Enth\u00e4lt den Kernbrennstoff (normalerweise angereichertes Uran in Pelletform)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brennst\u00e4be<\/strong>: Metallrohre, die die Brennstoffpellets enthalten<\/li>\n<li><strong>Steuerst\u00e4be<\/strong>: Sie regulieren die Geschwindigkeit der Reaktion<\/li>\n<li><strong>K\u00e4ltemittel<\/strong>: Normalerweise zirkuliert Wasser im Kern, um W\u00e4rme zu absorbieren<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Der Reaktor ist in einem Druckbeh\u00e4lter aus mehrere Zentimeter dickem Stahl eingebaut, der hohen Dr\u00fccken und Temperaturen standh\u00e4lt.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Das Dampferzeugungssystem<\/h3>\n<p>Die im Reaktor erzeugte W\u00e4rme wird \u00fcber das K\u00fchlmittel an die Dampferzeuger \u00fcbertragen. Es gibt zwei Haupttypen von Systemen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Siedewasserreaktoren (SWR)<\/strong>: Wasser kocht direkt im Reaktorkern und der Dampf treibt die Turbinen an<\/li>\n<li><strong>Druckwasserreaktoren (DWR)<\/strong>: Das Wasser im Prim\u00e4rkreislauf wird unter hohem Druck gehalten und \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt W\u00e4rme an einen Sekund\u00e4rkreislauf, in dem Dampf erzeugt wird<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Die Turbinen und der Generator<\/h3>\n<p>Der erzeugte Hochdruckdampf wird auf Turbinen geleitet und versetzt diese in Rotation. Die Turbinen sind mit einem Generator verbunden, der die mechanische Energie der Rotation in elektrische Energie umwandelt. Dieser Umwandlungsprozess \u00e4hnelt dem in konventionellen Kraftwerken, die mit Kohle oder Erdgas betrieben werden.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Der Kondensator<\/h3>\n<p>Nachdem die Turbinen in Betrieb sind, durchl\u00e4uft der Niederdruckdampf einen Kondensator, wo er abgek\u00fchlt und wieder in Wasser umgewandelt wird. Dieses Wasser wird zur\u00fcck zu den Dampferzeugern gepumpt, wodurch der Kreislauf von neuem beginnt. Die K\u00fchlung erfolgt \u00fcblicherweise mit Wasser aus Seen, Fl\u00fcssen oder dem Meer oder durch K\u00fchlt\u00fcrme, die W\u00e4rme an die Luft abgeben.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Uranabbau und -verarbeitung<\/h3>\n<p>Uran wird aus Mineralien gewonnen und dann zu einem Konzentrat verarbeitet, das als \u201eYellow Cake\u201c bezeichnet wird.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Bereicherung<\/h3>\n<p>Nat\u00fcrliches Uran enth\u00e4lt etwa 0,7% des spaltbaren Isotops U-235. Bei den meisten Reaktortypen wird dieses auf etwa 3,5% U-235 angereichert.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Kraftstoffherstellung<\/h3>\n<p>Angereichertes Uran wird in Urandioxid (UO\u2082) umgewandelt und zu Pellets gepresst, die dann in Brennst\u00e4be eingesetzt werden.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Einsatz im Reaktor<\/h3>\n<p>Die Brennst\u00e4be werden in den Reaktorkern eingesetzt, wo sie 3\u20136 Jahre verbleiben und Energie liefern.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Entsorgung abgebrannter Brennelemente<\/h3>\n<p>Wenn der Brennstoff nicht mehr effizient ist, wird er aus dem Reaktor entfernt.
