Les petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires (PRM) \u00e9mergent comme une technologie qui suscite un int\u00e9r\u00eat croissant \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9chelle internationale. Mais est-ce une option adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 grecque\u00a0?<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/nuclearenergy.gr\/fr\/petits-reacteurs-modulaires-smrs\/\">Que sont les petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires (SMR) ?<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Les SMR sont des r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires de plus petite taille, dont la puissance varie g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de 10 \u00e0 300 MW, contrairement aux r\u00e9acteurs conventionnels qui peuvent atteindre 1\u00a0000 MW ou plus. Fabriqu\u00e9s en usine sous forme d&#039;unit\u00e9s pr\u00e9fabriqu\u00e9es, ils peuvent \u00eatre transport\u00e9s et install\u00e9s \u00e0 leur destination finale, offrant ainsi une grande flexibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Leurs principales caract\u00e9ristiques comprennent :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Taille plus petite et conception modulaire<\/strong>, qui permet l&#039;ajout progressif d&#039;unit\u00e9s en fonction des besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques<\/li>\n<li><strong>Co\u00fbt d&#039;investissement initial r\u00e9duit<\/strong> par rapport aux centrales nucl\u00e9aires conventionnelles<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fonctionnalit\u00e9s de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avanc\u00e9es<\/strong>, souvent avec des syst\u00e8mes passifs qui ne n\u00e9cessitent pas d&#039;intervention humaine en cas d&#039;urgence<\/li>\n<li><strong>Empreinte plus petite<\/strong> et les besoins en infrastructures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>La situation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique en Gr\u00e8ce aujourd&#039;hui<\/h2>\n<p>La Gr\u00e8ce traverse une phase critique de sa transformation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. Le Plan national \u00e9nergie-climat pr\u00e9voit une d\u00e9lignification progressive et une transition vers les \u00e9nergies renouvelables (EnR). Cependant, des d\u00e9fis importants subsistent\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>La fluctuation de la production d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable n\u00e9cessite des solutions fiables pour la stabilit\u00e9 du r\u00e9seau<\/li>\n<li>L&#039;insularit\u00e9 cr\u00e9e des d\u00e9fis d&#039;interconnexion et d&#039;autonomie \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique<\/li>\n<li>Il est n\u00e9cessaire de remplacer les unit\u00e9s au lignite par des sources de charge de base propres<\/li>\n<li>La s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique est une pr\u00e9occupation croissante dans l\u2019environnement international<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Avantages des SMR pour la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 grecque<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 avec les \u00e9nergies renouvelables<\/h3>\n<p>Les SMR pourraient compl\u00e9ter les \u00e9nergies renouvelables, offrant une source d&#039;\u00e9nergie stable lorsque les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques ne sont pas propices \u00e0 la production \u00e9olienne et solaire. Ceci est particuli\u00e8rement important \u00e0 l&#039;heure o\u00f9 la Gr\u00e8ce accro\u00eet la part des \u00e9nergies renouvelables dans son mix \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Solution pour les zones recul\u00e9es et les \u00eeles<\/h3>\n<p>La taille plus petite des SMR les rend th\u00e9oriquement adapt\u00e9s pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques des zones insulaires qui ne sont pas connect\u00e9es au r\u00e9seau central ou qui sont confront\u00e9es \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes d\u2019ad\u00e9quation, notamment pendant les mois d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 en raison du tourisme.<\/p>\n<h3>3. R\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de carbone<\/h3>\n<p>L&#039;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire produit des \u00e9missions minimales de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre pendant son fonctionnement, contribuant ainsi aux objectifs de d\u00e9carbonation du pays. Le remplacement des centrales au gaz et au lignite par des SMR pourrait acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la r\u00e9alisation des objectifs climatiques.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Flexibilit\u00e9 de d\u00e9veloppement et de co\u00fbt<\/h3>\n<p>L\u2019installation progressive des unit\u00e9s SMR permet un investissement progressif et une adaptation aux besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques changeants, contrairement aux grandes unit\u00e9s qui n\u00e9cessitent d\u2019\u00e9normes investissements ponctuels.<\/p>\n<h2>D\u00e9fis et pr\u00e9occupations<\/h2>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 les avantages potentiels, l\u2019introduction des SMR en Gr\u00e8ce pr\u00e9sente des d\u00e9fis importants qui doivent \u00eatre soigneusement examin\u00e9s :<\/p>\n<h3>1. Viabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique<\/h3>\n<p>Bien que leur co\u00fbt initial soit inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 celui des r\u00e9acteurs conventionnels, les SMR n\u00e9cessitent n\u00e9anmoins des investissements importants. Le co\u00fbt par kilowattheure produit demeure incertain, la technologie n&#039;ayant pas encore \u00e9t\u00e9 largement d\u00e9ploy\u00e9e. De plus, les co\u00fbts de d\u00e9mant\u00e8lement et de gestion des d\u00e9chets doivent \u00eatre pris en compte dans l&#039;\u00e9valuation \u00e9conomique.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Acceptation sociale<\/h3>\n<p>L&#039;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire a toujours suscit\u00e9 des r\u00e9ticences de la part du public, notamment apr\u00e8s des accidents comme celui de Fukushima. En Gr\u00e8ce, o\u00f9 il n&#039;existe aucune exp\u00e9rience pr\u00e9alable en mati\u00e8re de centrales nucl\u00e9aires, l&#039;introduction de cette technologie pourrait susciter une r\u00e9sistance accrue, malgr\u00e9 les caract\u00e9ristiques de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 am\u00e9lior\u00e9es des SMR.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Sismicit\u00e9 et risques environnementaux<\/h3>\n<p>La Gr\u00e8ce est l&#039;une des r\u00e9gions d&#039;Europe les plus actives sur le plan sismique. Malgr\u00e9 les sp\u00e9cifications de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avanc\u00e9es des SMR, l&#039;activit\u00e9 sismique est un facteur qui doit \u00eatre soigneusement \u00e9valu\u00e9 lors de la conception et du choix du site.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Cadre r\u00e9glementaire et savoir-faire<\/h3>\n<p>Le pays ne dispose pas d&#039;un cadre r\u00e9glementaire complet pour l&#039;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire, ni d&#039;une exp\u00e9rience suffisante en mati\u00e8re de supervision de ces installations. L&#039;\u00e9laboration de la r\u00e9glementation n\u00e9cessaire et la formation de personnel sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 n\u00e9cessitent du temps et des ressources.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Gestion des d\u00e9chets nucl\u00e9aires<\/h3>\n<p>Bien que les SMR produisent de plus petites quantit\u00e9s de d\u00e9chets, la gestion des mati\u00e8res radioactives reste un d\u00e9fi qui n\u00e9cessite une planification \u00e0 long terme et des installations de stockage s\u00fbres.<\/p>\n<h2>Exp\u00e9rience et d\u00e9veloppements internationaux<\/h2>\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, plusieurs pays progressent dans le d\u00e9veloppement et l\u2019installation de SMR :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>La Russie dispose d\u00e9j\u00e0 de SMR flottants op\u00e9rationnels<\/li>\n<li>Les \u00c9tats-Unis et le Canada investissent dans la recherche et le d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles technologies SMR<\/li>\n<li>Le Royaume-Uni consid\u00e8re les SMR comme faisant partie de sa strat\u00e9gie de d\u00e9carbonisation<\/li>\n<li>Des pays comme la Pologne et la R\u00e9publique tch\u00e8que explorent \u00e9galement la technologie SMR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Il convient de noter qu&#039;au niveau europ\u00e9en, l&#039;int\u00e9r\u00eat pour les SMR est croissant, la Commission europ\u00e9enne les incluant dans la discussion sur la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, notamment apr\u00e8s avoir class\u00e9 l&#039;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire comme un investissement \u00ab vert \u00bb sous certaines conditions.<\/p>\n<h2>Options alternatives pour la Gr\u00e8ce<\/h2>\n<p>Avant de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 l\u2019adoption des SMR, la Gr\u00e8ce devrait examiner attentivement les options alternatives :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Poursuite de l&#039;expansion des \u00e9nergies renouvelables avec des syst\u00e8mes de stockage<\/strong>:L\u2019investissement dans des syst\u00e8mes de stockage d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle (batteries, stockage par pompage, hydrog\u00e8ne vert) pourrait r\u00e9soudre le probl\u00e8me de la variabilit\u00e9 des \u00e9nergies renouvelables.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Relations<\/strong>:L\u2019ach\u00e8vement des interconnexions entre le continent et les \u00eeles, ainsi qu\u2019avec les pays voisins, renforcerait la stabilit\u00e9 du r\u00e9seau.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Les unit\u00e9s au gaz naturel comme solution transitoire<\/strong>:Malgr\u00e9 son empreinte carbone, le gaz naturel offre des \u00e9missions inf\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles du lignite et une plus grande flexibilit\u00e9.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Conclusions<\/h2>\n<p>Les petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires pourraient th\u00e9oriquement int\u00e9grer le mix \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique grec, offrant une production stable et sobre en carbone et compl\u00e9tant les \u00e9nergies renouvelables. Cependant, des d\u00e9fis importants subsistent\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le co\u00fbt financier et l&#039;incertitude des investissements<\/li>\n<li>Le manque d\u2019exp\u00e9rience et de cadre r\u00e9glementaire<\/li>\n<li>Acceptation sociale et pr\u00e9occupations environnementales<\/li>\n<li>Les particularit\u00e9s g\u00e9ologiques du pays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La d\u00e9cision d&#039;introduire des SMR en Gr\u00e8ce n\u00e9cessite une \u00e9tude approfondie, un d\u00e9bat public et l&#039;examen de toutes les alternatives. Il est important d&#039;\u00e9valuer non seulement les caract\u00e9ristiques techniques et \u00e9conomiques, mais aussi les impacts \u00e0 long terme sur l&#039;environnement, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et l&#039;\u00e9conomie.<\/p>\n<p>Quoi qu&#039;il en soit, la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de la Gr\u00e8ce doit s&#039;appuyer sur un mix technologique diversifi\u00e9, privil\u00e9giant les \u00e9nergies renouvelables et l&#039;efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. Les SMR pourraient en faire partie, mais ne constituent pas une solution miracle \u00e0 tous les d\u00e9fis \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques du
