A 26 aprile 1986<\/strong>, si \u00e8 verificato il peggior incidente nucleare nella storia dell'umanit\u00e0. Il reattore 4 della centrale nucleare di Cernobyl<\/strong> (Chernobyl) nell'allora Unione Sovietica (oggi Ucraina) esplose durante un esperimento sperimentale. L'incidente ebbe conseguenze devastanti per l'ambiente, la salute umana e l'industria nucleare internazionale.<\/p>\n

Quello che \u00e8 successo<\/h3>\n

Il disastro \u00e8 iniziato durante un esperimento di sicurezza che aveva lo scopo di testare il funzionamento del reattore in caso di interruzione di corrente. A causa di difetti di progettazione nel tipo di reattore, RBMK<\/strong> e a causa degli errori degli operatori, la situazione \u00e8 sfuggita di mano.<\/p>\n

  • Aumento improvviso della potenza<\/strong>:La potenza del reattore aument\u00f2 in modo esplosivo.<\/li>\n
  • Esplosione<\/strong>:Il calore caus\u00f2 l'esplosione del nucleo e il rilascio di enormi quantit\u00e0 di radioattivit\u00e0 nell'atmosfera.<\/li>\n
  • Fuoco<\/strong>:Le fiamme divampate hanno reso ancora pi\u00f9 difficile il controllo della situazione, disperdendo particelle radioattive su un ampio raggio.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Inquinamento radioattivo<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • L'incidente ha liberato 400 volte pi\u00f9 radioattivo della bomba di Hiroshima<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Elementi radioattivi come iodio-131<\/strong>, IL cesio-137<\/strong> e il Stronzio-90<\/strong> continuano ad inquinare l'ambiente circostante.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Vite umane<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Primi decessi<\/strong>: 2 operai morirono subito a causa dell'esplosione, mentre decine di altri morirono nei giorni successivi a causa malattia radioattiva acuta<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Effetti cronici<\/strong>: Migliaia di persone hanno sofferto di cancro alla tiroide e di altre malattie legate all'esposizione alle radiazioni.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Evacuazione dell'area<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • Di 350.000 persone<\/strong> furono costretti ad abbandonare le loro case.<\/li>\n
        • La citt\u00e0 Pripyat<\/strong>, situata nei pressi della stazione, fu abbandonata e ancora oggi \u00e8 una citt\u00e0 fantasma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Gestire l'incidente<\/h3>\n
            \n
          • Impresa di pulizie<\/strong>: Circa 600.000 persone, note come \u201cliquefattori\u201d<\/strong>, ha partecipato alla bonifica della zona, esposta ad alti livelli di radioattivit\u00e0.<\/li>\n
          • Costruzione di un sarcofago<\/strong>:Per contenere la fuoriuscita di radioattivit\u00e0, attorno al reattore danneggiato venne costruita un'enorme recinzione di cemento.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Nel 2016 \u00e8 stato realizzato un nuovo involucro metallico, noto come \u201cNuovo confinamento sicuro\u201d<\/strong>che protegger\u00e0 la zona per i prossimi 100 anni.<\/p>\n

            Le conseguenze internazionali<\/h3>\n

            Chernobyl ha avuto un impatto drammatico sulla comunit\u00e0 internazionale:<\/h3>\n

              Oggi, Chernobyl rimane un monumento vivente alle conseguenze devastanti dell'energia nucleare quando non vengono rispettati gli standard di sicurezza adeguati. L'area intorno alla centrale \u00e8 stata trasformata in zona di esclusione<\/strong>, che resta pericolosa, ma che allo stesso tempo ospita una natura rinata senza la presenza dell'uomo.<\/p>\n
